Here we go....divided opinion yet again...! When playing 5-a-side can the goalie use his feet to serve the ball into play i.e. can he lump it down the pitch with a mighty thwack, OR must he serve it into play using only his hands....? I'm sure you will give us the benefit of your wisdom. Have your say by simply leaving your comment in the box below. At a recent (admittedly late) Tuesday evening in the Bull, the discussion moved on to “What is a Nutmeg?” Opinion was divided – well actually it was Mike C vs The Rest Of The World. Mike C reckoned a Nutmeg occurs when you push the ball between a player’s legs, and then nip round him and take repossession of the ball and carry on playing. Everyone else thought a Nutmeg was simply the action of passing the ball through other player’s legs. What do YOU think? Have your say by simply leaving your comment in the box below. There has been lot's of discussion (banter actually) regarding where we should play on Tuesday evenings during the Summer months. The options seem to be:

  • Continue indoors at Sudbury. It's free but obviously limited to 5-aside format. It does help build up our funds

  • Play on the artificial pitch at Alleynes. Facilitates anything from 5 - aside upwards, depending on how many turn up to play. It's a good pitch (except for the grazes) but it does not help our funds.

  • Play on Marchington field. Obviously it is good for funds, provided we collect the money, which really shouldn't be a problem. We collect fees when we play at Alleynes, so why not when we are outdoors at Marchington? The field is a bit of a switchback, and it does tend to get fenced off...much to everyone's chagrin

Post a reply and let us know what you think.....
